Man never is, but always to be blest.

I do not usually complain. Technically, I'm just airing my grouses.

I work for a large company with a few thousand people. We are number three in our particular industry. My position is to ensure that the chemical supply goes uninterrupted. The chemicals used are the raw materials used for production. Therefore, my responsibility is huge. The systems I control are critical. I work with a team of technicians to ensure that my operations are running smoothly. Let's call them Vendor A, since they are not company staff.

Recently, something big happened. My company suffered a 6-figure sum loss. One of my technicians made a mistake, so he was axed. Fair enough, right? So it came as a shock to me when I found out that his manager was removed as well. And just to satisfy some HoD. Just because some big shot is calling the shots (pun intended), I have to lose a very experienced person, who is no longer young. How will he be able to find work with the economy so bad? Does it make any sense? That's not all.

When a problem comes up, the first thing people do is not to solve them, but push it away to other people. This exists at even the highest levels, just under the CEO. With mentality like this, how can the company gain? People are simply thinking for themselves and not for the company. Best thing is, one core value that my company has is integrity. I do not see this at all. Because of this, innocent people are being shot down.

Some people say that this is the way to survive in the working world. Where then, are morals? Am I supposed to act like this in order to survive? Like what Rousseau says, following your appetite bereft of reason? What utter rubbish. I happen to be a Christian who is in the working world. Does that mean I leave my values behind in order to survive? I refuse to do so.

If you own a large company, and know that electricity prices are rising, would you:
1) do some cost cutting measures a long time back or
2) wait for the last minute?

I'm sure everyone would choose option 1. But apparently, common sense seems to be missing somewhere in my company. Waiting till the last minute, then panicking is not a good way to run a business. To me, it seems that no one bothers. Basically, my company is like a rotten apple. On the surface, everything looks nice. Inside, everything is not. There is no wonder why the company turnover rate is so high. When I first joined, I was told that the average turnover rate is 3 people/day. True enough.

I am disheartened, dispirited and dismayed in the way my company operates.

Don't try this at home.
Pretend you don't see.
